Budget Pack secures lower cost PRNs for all its members (11/02/2009)
Despite the recent volatility in recycling markets and complaints from larger schemes that adopted higher-risk purchasing strategies, Budget Pack has maintained a highly competitive pricing campaign and is pleased to announce another low-cost year for members as the 2008 compliance period closes.
Stephen Clark, Managing Director of Budget Pack explained;
“We are committed to achieving excellent customer-service and flexibility at highly competitive prices. Our PRN purchasing strategies are set at the start of the compliance period but adjusted throughout the year as the market changes. We satisfied over 130,000 tonnes of recycling without complication and focussed on providing better value than the larger schemes. Our supply contracts ensure that we have a balance of both fixed and flexibly priced PRNs to spread and control risk caused by the recession and the potential shortfall in PRN supply – both of which can result in increased PRN prices.”
At least one of the 3 largest schemes has issued a 5th quarter invoice to make up for losses incurred when the cost of PRNs dramatically increased over the final part of 2008, but Budget Pack has not. Stephen added;
“We understand how hard it is for companies in the current economic climate and have adopted fair and secure pricing to ensure we are supporting our members and recyclers through these difficult times.”
With Budget Pack’s 2008 compliance period now closed, Stephen commented on his expectations for the current 2009 period saying;
“We are delighted with our performance in 2009 already and are predicting annual costs as low as 50% of those from larger schemes. Budget Pack is the 9th largest UK compliance scheme (out of 25 currently registered) and although we had the fastest organic scheme growth between 2006 and 2008, we remain committed to maintaining our customer-led values and competitive pricing through carefully balanced operations.”
