Overview of the latest WEEE regulation amendments (15/01/2010)
Revised WEEE regulations have been published by the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) on November 6th 2009 and come into force on the 1st January 2010.
The revised regulations aim to ease the administrative burdens placed on businesses. Key revisions that affect producers include:
- Members to provide their 2007 SIC code rather than the current 2003 SIC version.
- Exported WEEE must meet the requirements of the Transfrontier Shipment Regulations. Additionally, evidence will only be able to be issued for whole WEEE exported (rather than partially treated).
There are other revisions that impact compliance schemes and reprocessors of WEEE. Budget Pack anticipated these amended WEEE regulations (see previous news story) and has the knowledge and expertise to inform and help members with any changes that may be relevant to them.
